Outside Pharmacies

Dear valued clients,

Effective January 5, 2026, we will no longer authorize prescription requests from outside pharmacies via fax, phone call, or email. Currently, our staff spend several hours per day managing these requests. We have also encountered prescriptions that have been lost, filled incorrectly, or filled without authorization by some of these pharmacies. We have chosen to prioritize patient care and client service rather than to unravel the errors of outside pharmacies.

You will still be able to utilize other pharmacies if you choose via the following routes:

  1. We can provide you with a written/paper prescription at time of exam for that patient.
    • If you would like written/paper prescriptions for other pets, please give us 3 business days’ notice so we can have these ready at time of exam.  Legally, we can only prescribe medications for pets that have been examined by a veterinarian within the past year.
  2. You can request a written/paper prescription via phone or text (570-538-5538) or by emailing (info@stah-pa.com) that you will pick up at our office. We kindly ask for three business days’ notice to allow us time to review the patient record and prepare the prescription.  
    • You can then take this written/paper prescription to a human pharmacy of your choice or mail it to an online pharmacy for home delivery after placing an online order.
  3. You can utilize our online pharmacy, Vetsource, that fully integrates with our computer software, saving us time and preventing errors. 

As always, we can provide most prescriptions in-hospital.  We can order medications that we do not have in stock through our online pharmacy, Vetsource, or get them specially compounded through our trusted compounding pharmacy, Wedgewood, for home delivery.
